ESWT — Shock Wave Therapy

ESWT (Extracorporeal Shock Wave Therapy) applies acoustic waves to tissue through a device. It is particularly favoured for long-standing tendon and tendon-insertion complaints. Fzt. Bilal Kara does not offer ESWT as a stand-alone solution; loading and strengthening exercises stay at the centre of the programme so the effect of the treatment lasts.

Physiotherapy applied to the foot and heel region

When is it needed?

  • Achilles or patellar tendon pain that hasn't gone away for months
  • Persistent pain from plantar heel involvement
  • A tendon complaint that doesn't improve with rest
  • Pain re-triggered on returning to training
  • A sense that the tissue's load-bearing capacity has dropped

What we do

  • Using ESWT alongside a graded loading programme
  • Reloading the tendon in a controlled way
  • Determining the number of sessions by monitoring the response
  • An application schedule integrated into the training plan
  • Regular reassessment of tendon capacity

ESWT (Shock Wave) in Bursa Nilüfer

Fzt. Bilal Kara provides one-to-one care for eswt (shock wave) at the clinic in Bursa Nilüfer — in Fethiye Mahallesi, on Kelebek Sokak, at a central point of Nilüfer, opposite the Fethiye covered market.

It is a short trip by car or public transport from İhsaniye, Odunluk, Balat, Özlüce, Ataevler, 23 Nisan and the surrounding areas. Every session is one-to-one, assessment-based and tailored to you.

If a tendon complaint hasn't gone away for months

Achilles tendinopathy, patellar tendinopathy and plantar heel pain can persist for months. In these conditions the tissue's capacity to carry load has dropped; rest doesn't restore that capacity — it often lowers it further.

Fzt. Bilal Kara uses ESWT alongside a graded loading programme, not in place of it. Shock-wave application reduces pain and makes exercise possible; what brings the lasting result is the tendon being reloaded in a controlled way. The number of sessions is determined by monitoring the response.

How is the number of sessions determined?

The number of sessions is determined by monitoring the response; a fixed package isn't offered — the decision is made by measuring progress.

Frequently asked questions

Does ESWT resolve tendon pain on its own?

No; the graded loading programme brings the lasting result, and ESWT supports that process by reducing pain.

When can I return to training?

Load is increased gradually once tendon capacity reaches a measured threshold; the decision follows that criterion, not the calendar.

Does ESWT hurt?

A mild discomfort may be felt during application; the intensity is adjusted to the person and the area.

Other treatments

  • Heel Pain

For heel pain that bites on the first step of the morning: shockwave, load management and a graded strengthening programme.

  • Tennis Elbow

For pain on the outer elbow that flares with gripping: a graded tendon-loading programme that rebuilds grip strength.

  • Golfer's Elbow

For inner elbow pain that flares with gripping and bending: a programme that raises tendon capacity step by step.
